With the end of Summer quickly approaching (boooooo), The Skinny figured we’d get serious for some reason and provide you with a practical piece of clothing to merge yourself into slightly cooler temperatures. September is the perfect time to begin thinking about what you might throw over your tank or pair with your jorts. The jean crop jacket is mucho funno. If you have a standard size jacket or your parents or your gardener or whomever has one, here’s how to make it all 2009‐ish.

Iron jacket buttoned up, so it’s not all crumply. Put it on, button it up and mark the jacket 2 inches below your rib cage. Mark sleeves halfway up your forearm. Pencil the rest of the cut lines in.

Using fabric scissors, cut along the dotted lines on both sleeves and the torso.

Fold hemlines on all 3 cuts under and inward. Pin in place all the way around the body and both sleeves.

Unbutton jacket and run under the sewing machine. First stitches should go right near the pins. Second stitch should go about a centimeter up from the bottom of the body and sleeves. You can double up on these stitches where you see fit.
